We had one goal in publishing this wonderful book - to create positive, upbeat children plays that express the culture, history, and pride of African Americans.

If you are planning a children's play or workshop for African American children, you probably had a problem finding a play children will enjoy.  Positive African American Plays for Children gives parents, teachers, counselors, or anyone who works with children, alternative plays that closely identify with current surrounding, environment, and social climate.

This book has five great plays that virtually anyone can direct and produce.  The text is large and the sentences are short but powerful.  Children will not have any difficulty remembering their lines.

Though there are suggested settings for each play, children or directors can adjust the settings to meet their individual tastes or environment.  The plays can be performed at schools, in back yards, churches, boys and girls clubs, or any place where children gather.

There is an entire section of tips and ideas to help you have a great production.  As an added bonus, we included copies of programs and tickets at the end of each play.  Use them to advertise and market your play.

Positive African American Plays For Children is an excellent tool to help introduce children to theater and drama.  Children exercise important skills such as reading, writing, listening, comprehension, and public speaking when they work on a play.  They also build high self-esteem and become more confident.  Remember, a good play can create dreams, goals, and inspiration.  Make sure our children participate.
